Purpose of the Grants Office:
To coordinate student and faculty applications for research funds, with a particular focus on grants and fellowships.
Responsibilities of the Grants Office:
- Determining an individual’s eligibility for institutional endorsement.
- Filing the grant and fellowship materials on behalf of the applicant when necessary.
- Coordinating disbursement of funds once they are awarded.

section on the Walden Web site will soon be updated to include a grants section. There, you’ll be able to access the following:
- Walden’s Grants Handbook, including important process information, “how-to” sections, frequently asked questions, Internet links, and more.
- A Grant Pursuit form, which signifies your commitment to pursuing a specific opportunity.

- Links to other Web sites that might be helpful in your grants search.
Minimum Criteria for Institutional Endorsement for Student Grant Applicants
In addition to the criteria set by individual fund sources, student grant applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for institutional endorsement from Walden:
- The applicant has a 3.8 GPA or higher.
- A faculty member, preferably the committee chairperson, has provided a letter of recommendation. The letter should include the faculty member’s commitment to oversee the research if necessary.
- The dissertation/thesis committee has been established and approved.
- The prospectus has been written and approved.
- Any applicable nomination procedures have been followed to identify Walden’s strongest applicants.
- The applicant submitted the Grant Pursuit form at least 30 days before the application deadline.
Call for Experienced Grant Seekers
The Grants Office is looking for Scholar-Practitioner readers, who
- are a previous grant winner (of any kind),
- have had experience as a reviewer of grants,
- have received a Fulbright or other highly competitive grant, or
- know of great funding opportunities that would be a good fit for the Walden community.

The Grants Office will feature funding opportunities, with links to more information in The Scholar-Practitioner. Please note the deadlines. Many of these may not apply to this year’s studies, but may be a better fit in 2007 or later.

Research grants regarding violence (open to current and post-doctoral students), with an August 1 deadline.

For up to three pre- or post-doctoral fellowships every academic year. For scholars with a strong background in statistical methods, strong computer skills, and substantive interests that would allow them to best take advantage of the sponsor’s research environment and particular collection of people and projects.
