Professional Conferences
Walden University’s Professional Conferences are for advanced Ph.D. students. Rather than fulfilling Milestone 4 objectives at a standard Walden residency, students may choose at any time after completing the Milestone 2 (second) residency to attend a professional conference (offered in conjunction with Walden faculty) for residency units .The School of Health Sciences is pleased to announce the professional conference to be held with the APHA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The purpose of this professional conference is to provide students with the experience of attending a conference and to offer an opportunity to hear current research and trends in the field.
Residency Requirements
Participation in this Professional Conference will meet the academic residency requirement for Milestone 4. This option is available to students who have completed both Milestones 1 & 2 (second residency).
The format of the residency will be different from a standard residency; at this residency, each student will be required to attend the APHA Annual Meeting presentations and events. Additionally, students will be expected to meet with Walden faculty each day to reflect on becoming a scholar-practitioner, including discussion of aspects such as publication and presentation.
Registration
To meet the Walden University academic residency requirements, you must register directly with the APHA Annual Meeting and you must also register for the Walden residency. The cost billed by Walden to your tuition bill for this residency will be $615. Students will also be responsible for registration costs required by the professional organization.
Annual Meeting Information and Web Site
Information about the APHA Annual Meeting is available from the APHA web site at http://www.apha.org/meetings/. If you are planning to attend, early registration is recommended, both for the APHA Annual Meeting and for the Walden professional conference.
