Ed.D. Residency Requirements

Every student in the Ed.D. Program is required to attend one residency designed to coordinate with the philosophy and content of the program and the specific stage in the student’s scholarly development.  Students are strongly encouraged to attend the residency during the first year of the degree program sometime after the first month of courses.  Students who delay attending the residency will miss opportunities to build a support system with other students in the program and will miss access to faculty, staff, and other resources integral to student success in the doctoral program. Residency completion is a requirement of the program.

Year One: Face-to-Face Residency
This is a three-day face-to-face residency, which is embedded within the overall Walden University Academic Residency program.   It focuses on preparing students to design and implement doctoral study by introducing them to the skills they will need for success in the doctoral program.
Students will participate in a series of large group colloquia and smaller skill-based sessions.

This face-to-face residency is generally held three times a year over a long weekend. Typically, the Ed.D. residency is held in conjunction with a Walden University Winter Session, Summer Session, or April Ph.D. residency.

Registration

Registration requests are submitted by each student from an on-line form on the residencies Ed.D. web page. Select your residency choice from the list provided and you will see detailed information about the venue and an option to “Register for this session” (if registration is open. If it is not open, there will be no link).
