Register For the Session
Information regarding guest registration will be sent to registered student participants in July 2008.
Location and Venue
Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) and Walden University invite you to participate in this International Academic Residency for Walden University's PhD students from November 15-21, 2008.
UNAB and Walden University have worked to create a unique residency agenda for the program consisting of both traditional residency work (Milestone Seminars, skill sessions, and individual academic advising) and cultural excursions throughout Santiago. Potential activities include tours of the Museo de Arte Precolombino, La Chascona--the residence of the famous and beloved Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, and El Palacio de La Moneda (translated as “The Mint Palace,” this site is the current seat of the President of the Republic of Chile, an architectural and historical gem) and a unique private tour of the city focused on history, culture, environment, economy, and politics.
Travel
Students flying to this residency will want to fly into the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport. Students should make flight arrangements only after receiving an Confirmation Email from the Residencies Team.
Accommodations
This six-day residency will take place on the UNAB Casano campus in Santiago. Students must arrive in Santiago on November 14 or on November 15, 2008 by 3:00 p.m. Students must depart from the residency hotel on November 22, 2008.
Students are expected to stay on-site at the hotel arranged by Walden for the duration of the residency; the program schedule is not conducive to commuting from another location for the week. We expect that students will plan any personal travel activities in Chile the days before or after the residency.
Costs
The cost for the Santiago 6-day International Residency is $2,850, which includes the 6-day residency fees, transportation to and Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport (on approved travel days), lodging in a hotel near the campus, breakfast at the hotel and lunch on campus, and all afternoon cultural excursions. Sleeping accommodations in shared double rooms are provided for students at a hotel near campus beginning November 14, 2008 with check-out on November 22, 2008. Information about upgrading to a single room will be provided in the Confirmation Email.
Guests
This residency has been planned with the idea that guests may accompany you. We have arranged the schedule so that students are in academic sessions from morning through mid-day. The afternoons and early evenings are filled with cultural programs open to all guests. In addition to your own residency fee, you will be billed for the housing, meals, and cultural activities for each guest.
If you are planning on bringing guests under the age of 18 to this residency, we require that you bring a second adult guest to accompany anyone under the age of 18.
Information regarding guest registration will be provided in the Residency Confirmation Email. If you have any questions regarding the guest registration process, please contact Residencies@waldenu.edu.
Registration Information
Residency registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please register early to guarantee a place in the residency. If you register less than four weeks prior to the residency, you are not guaranteed to have your name included in all printed materials.
