APA Professional Conference Residency 2008

Register For the Session

Registration for this residency will open at 10 a.m. CST on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.

Walden University’s Professional Conference Residencies are for advanced Ph.D. students. Instead of fulfilling Milestone 4 at a Walden residency, students may choose to attend a Walden approved professional conference at any time after completing the Milestone 2 (second) residency. Students who have attended less than two residencies are not eligible to earn residency units at professional conferences.

The School of Psychology has approved of the APA Professional Conference as meeting a 4-day residency requirement in replacement for a Milestone 4 residency. This opportunity provides students with an experience of attending a conference to learn the current research and trends in psychology.  Additionally, hours of attendance at this conference can be used toward completion of AYR hours for psychology licensure students. You must check with your state licensing board to ensure the board will accept the hours toward state requirements. Although attending the professional conference can count towards AYR hours it will not replace any required residencies for the AYR.

Residency Requirements
Participation in this Professional Conference Residency will meet a 4-day academic residency requirement for Milestone 4 and is available only to students who have completed Milestones at least two prior residencies.

To meet the Walden University academic residency requirements, you must register directly with the APA annual conference AND you must also register for the Walden residency.

The format of the Professional Conference Residency will be different from a typical residency.   At this residency, each student will be required to attend various conference presentations and events that meet their research and career goals as well as specific sessions for Walden students, organized and led by Walden faculty.  Faculty will facilitate the conference experience for students.

Travel
Students should make flight arrangements only after receiving an email from the Residencies Team communicating the Professional Conference Residency within the professional conference has met Walden University minimum enrollment requirements. Again, this email confirmation and/or cancellation notice will be sent no later than six weeks prior to the first date of the professional conference.
