Saturday, December 27, 2008

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Students are now able to register for residencies through their myWalden page. Please contact the Student Support Team (support@waldenu.edu) if you have any questions or difficulties with this process.

Location and Venue
The Lansdowne, VA Ed.D. Residency will be held December 27-30, 2008 at the National Conference Center.  Comfortably nestled on 110 acres of private land, the National Conference Center (NCC) is about 30 minutes from Washington D.C. and only 12 miles from the Washington-Dulles Airport.  The NCC hosts what has become one of the most popular Academic Residency locations among Walden students.  Take advantage of the great opportunities to achieve the residency's goals of skill building, socialization, scholarship, and social change advocacy. Also at this residency, students will have a chance to meet and interact with students pursuing a Ph.D. degree at Walden University.

This architecturally unique facility offers comfortable accommodations and convenient meeting rooms.  Students and faculty alike dine in the all-you-can-eat buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  During the midmorning and afternoon, everyone gathers around the convenient break-stations for coffee, tea, juice, and snacks.  The Black Olive, located on-site, offers an evening venue for socializing and fun.  The NCC, with its all-inclusive environment, provides the great opportunity for students to network with colleagues, faculty, and staff.

Travel
Students flying to this residency will fly into the Washington-Dulles International Airport.  The NCC is located approximately 15 minutes from the airport.  Students should make travel arrangements only after receiving a Confirmation Email from the Residencies Team.

Accommodations
Walden University has reserved a block of rooms at the National Conference Center at a rate of $144/night (including meals).  Take advantage of the Walden University room block for its convenient location for the academic sessions.  With that extra time in the morning, you will be able to make the most of your experience at the residency--socialize and network to establish a support system of faculty, staff, and fellow students.  As part of the room block, you'll also enjoy amenities such as high-speed Internet access at no additional cost. Information about how to reserve a room will be included in the Confirmation Email.

Each room includes one double bed, a television, a desk, voicemail, and a high-speed Internet connection.  If you are bringing a guest, the fee for each guest is $60/night.  This fee gives your guest access to three meals/day, as well.

If you are commuting to the NCC, you will need to pay a $25/day fee for three meals in the NCC cafeteria

Please note:  This is a true conference center and is not a family friendly location.

Once the room block is filled, the NCC reserves the right to increase the room rates prior to the registration deadline (December 5, 2008). The room block may fill prior to the deadline.
