BSBA to MBA Articulation Agreement

The following agreement is only valid for BSBA students who complete their concentration/specialization courses by the end of the Summer quarter, 2008.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Students – Would you like to earn a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Walden?  The transition may be easier than you think.

The BSBA to MBA articulation agreement is designed to help Walden BSBA students accelerate the time to complete an MBA degree. Students must select specific courses for their concentration in their BSBA program, and also meet specific academic requirements.

Advanced Standing
BSBA students who are admitted to Walden’s MBA program upon completion of their undergraduate degree:

  • will not be required to take the MBA orientation course, MMBA 6500, Success Strategies in the Online Environment;
  • may be entitled to have one additional MBA course waived based on successful completion of similar course in the BSBA program, typically MMBA 6530, Marketing;
  • may be entitled to have two MBA specialization courses waived based on successful completion of an MBA-level specialization as part of the BSBA degree program.

Three-Course Specialization Sequence
Under certain conditions BSBA students may select an appropriate master-level course sequence to help them meet their BSBA concentration requirements.  An early decision to take master-level courses is based on the student’s ability to work successfully at an advanced level. In order to ensure student success additional requirements have been established.

  • the student must have completed MGMT 5101 Business Capstone;
  • the student must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better;
  • the student must have met the pre-requisites for the selected specialization.

Selecting  a master-level specialization sequence and meeting the requirements above may reduce the student's requirements for their subsequent MBA degree at Walden.

Note: While students may select from any MBA specializations, options may be limited in any given term pending availability of the courses.

To have the MBA specialization requirements in the MBA waived, students will need to complete masters-level courses from the quarter-based MBA program, during the BSBA program. Specializations and course descriptions can be found in the 2006 Walden catalog and found at inside.waldenu.edu.

Students must complete all quarter-based MBA specialization courses and earn a B or better in each to have the specialization requirement in the MBA program waived.

Note: Students in the quarter-based BSBA program are not eligible to take semester-based MBA courses as part of their BSBA program.

Please contact your Academic Advisor who will help you evaluate your options to pursue this opportunity.
