Walden University Library Walden's dedicated librarians are available to help you evaluate and obtain the materials you need for your research. Depending on the type of scholarly materials you need, you can get the full text online, have it mailed or faxed to your home, or take the citation to a nearby academic or public library. Remember that no one library may serve all the needs of students. We will work with you in exploring your total information network.
The Walden University Library is completely digital. We have no print books or journals; instead, we have access to a plethora of electronic resources, primarily the Walden online databases and eBook subscriptions.
Reference Help The Walden Library can help you identify and evaluate the information you need to be a successful Walden student. The Walden Library web form, email and toll-free phone numbers are like a reference desk, where you can ask questions and seek information. As in all graduate programs, students are expected to search the databases on their own and retrieve their needed materials. Our librarians are available to help you learn how to search the databases, which database to choose, how to evaluate information, and where to get help when Walden’s databases don’t have what you need. Besides our individual help through web, email and phone, we also offer skills sessions at all the Walden residencies as well as face-to-face advising times. The tutorials in the How Do I …? Section of our web site can also help you learn to be a top-notch library searcher.
Document Delivery The Walden library contracts with Indiana University for document delivery service. Books and copies of articles are sent by Indiana University’s Document Delivery Service (DDS), an IU libraries unit. The DDS is like a library circulation desk, where you check out books. You can only get materials the IU Bloomington Libraries own. Before placing requests, please search IUCAT, the IU Libraries' online catalog, to determine if the material you want to borrow or have photocopied is owned by the IU Bloomington Libraries.
If you cannot obtain the materials you need through the DDS, we would be happy to assist you in finding them elsewhere or through another service.
Online Databases Online databases can help you identify and obtain magazine, journal, and newspaper articles; books; conference proceedings; dissertations and theses; company and industry reports and information; market research information; trade association reports; government produced information; statistics; and legal information. There are over 20,000 full text eJournals in our databases which include CINAHL, ERIC, Ovid Nursing, PsycINFO, Academic Search Premier, Business Search Premier, Dissertation Abstracts, SAGE journals, PolicyFile, and many more.
